September 30th marked three quarters of a century of life for S.E. Coleman AND 30 years in full time ministry serving in foreign missions !! First starting in orphanages in Mexico after living 15 years in Hawaii and working for the Billy Graham Association at their Christian radio station. From Mexico God opened the doors for Central America, she lived full time in Belize, El Salvador and Guatemala. Of course, the question is “What does she do?”, the answer, a bit of everything. She has sit up Christian radio stations, consulted. With a background is theatre, she put together troupes for dramas in the streets, in churches. Being an artist of note, she has used those God given creative abilities to work literally with thousands over the years making crafts with children and adults to teach Biblical principles.
For eight years she taught in a Christian school in Antigua, Guatemala. For the most part, she has worked with nationals directly also in Cuba, Suriname, Colombia , Ecuador, Viet Nam, Uganda. S.E. has been in Medellin, Colombia 6 times, staying as long as 3 months and working with the local branch of the International Prison Fellowship. In Uganda, her projects are ongoing and she returned this year after a 3 year absence. Donations that come to me pay for the food at a school in a very poor area of Kampala, the capital. This year all children got a new school uniform shirt that was donated. She supports a young lady she met her first time there 13 years ago and she graduates this year from University in Mass Communications!! Coleman also has a project, “Telma Y Miss”, that supports a young woman she met when teaching. At the time Telma was 13 and now turning 38.
S.E. believes it is willingness to be obedient that God wants from us, no matter where we are planted. She’d said many times, He will use us as His hands and feet no matter our age, young or “old”.
